Dogwood Book Club - 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻
Interested in exploring North Carolina through stories? The Dogwood Book Club invites you to join our monthly meetings, where we read and discuss books set in North Carolina, written by North Carolinians, or about notable figures from our state.
This month we're reading:
The Last American Man
By Elizabeth Gilbert
"In this rousing examination of contemporary American male identity, acclaimed author and journalist Elizabeth Gilbert explores the fascinating true story of Eustace Conway. In 1977, at the age of seventeen, Conway left his family's comfortable suburban home to move to the Appalachian Mountains. For more than two decades he has lived there, making fire with sticks, wearing skins from animals he has trapped, and trying to convince Americans to give up their materialistic lifestyles and return with him back to nature."
Enjoy some good reads, meet people who share your interest, and learn more about the diverse narratives that weave through North Carolina's history and culture. Whether you're a dedicated bibliophile or just looking for a cozy way to spend an evening, our book club offers a welcoming space to explore the richness of North Carolina's literary landscape.
